The concrete for the tower bases had a strength requirement of 5,000 to 6,000 psi in 28 days. High slump, high strength concrete was needed to place and consolidate the concrete with the large amount of steel reinforcement . The concrete also required extended slump life for the long haul to the project. The schedule dictated 1,500 - 2,000 cubic yards of concrete to be placed each day. This project was located in a remote region of central Texas which made delivery of materials a challenge. GRT dedicated two admixture trailers with full dispensing systems to service this project.
